Sheepshead, Trout and Redfish

Hey guys sorry for the lack of posts! Been busy here in wonderful crystal river. The weather has broke and warm days are upon us.

We’ve had some excellent catches of sheepshead, trout and redfish. Our sheepshead have been in our inshore rock piles and have been falling for shrimp on 1/4oz or a knocker rig. Our redfish have been further into the mangroves with the cooler weather and we will start too see them move towards the outer edges of the islands soon.

The speckled trout is always a crowd favorite, as always Lil John’s on a 1/8 oz jog or a nose hooked doa cal jerk bait has been the answer. Also for the novices drifting shrimp under a cork has also yield nice catches.

Side note, all thought they are out of season till June 1, our casting for gag grouper has been great. Throwing rapala lipped divers, has been getting the bites.
All in all, fishing is good.
